THE SCHOOL OF BASIC AND REMEDIAL STUDIES (SBRS)

While these three faculties start full academic activities in October 2005, the School of Basic and Remedial Studies (SBRS) of the University started its activities in the 2004/2005 Academic Session.

This school is primarily put in place to run two programmes, namely the Basic Studies and the Remedial. The Basic Studies section is meant to prepare students for the IJMBE, which allows for direct entry into any other university after successful completion, while the Remedial programme is aimed at preparing students for absorption into the undergraduate courses of the University. Staffing:

The SBRS headed by a Director, Dr. Muhammad Gurama Dukku, with a Senior Assistant Registrar, Freda Yazu (Ms.) and a Confidential Secretary, Ruth Meli. It also has a total of 25 Tutors in various fields of specialization as follows:-

Physical Structure

To ensure academic excellence, provision for a conducive learning environment was made. There are fully equipped Biology, Chemistry and Physics laboratories, Lecture halls, Library and hostels accommodation for both male and female students. There is also office accommodation for the School’s director and his staff.

The SBRS presently has 600 registered students for the Basic Studies and the Remedial programme.
