MODE OF APPLICATION FOR ADMISSIONS Application for admission into the Gombe State University is through the purchase of screening forms sold to prospective candidates at a fee fixed by the Universitys management as well as filling of JAMB forms.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS The Gombe State University starts with thirteen academic departments spread under three foundation Faculties of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Science. The General/Faculty Requirements are English Language and Mathematics Candidates offered admission should fulfill the minimum entry requirements stated against the Faculties into which they are admitted. The entry requirements should not be in more than two sittings. All candidates should submit original and 2 photocopies of their certificates or result slips. Similarly, birth certificates/declaration of age and state of origin declaration are to be submitted.
FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES 1. B.A English (a) Direct Entry: Two A Level passes to include Literature in English and one other Arts subject or NCE at lower credit level in two relevant Arts subject which must include Literature in English. (b) UME: Five O Level credit passes to include Literature and English Language. 2. B.A History
(a) Direct Entry:- Two A Level passes in History and any other relevant subject or NCE at lower credit in History or any other relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes to include History and English Language.
3. B.Sc. Accountancy/Finance (a) Direct Entry:- Two A Level passes including Economics. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and Economics. 4. B.Sc. Business Administration (a) Direct Entry: Two A Level passes including Economics or NCE at lower credit in any relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and Economics. 5. B.Sc. Economics (a) Direct Entry: Two A Level passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric. Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and Economics.
6. B.Sc. Political Science (a) Direct Entry: Two A Level passes including Government or History Or NCE at lower credit level in any relevant subject.
(b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes in Government or History, English Language and three other subjects. At least a pass in Mathematics is required.
7. B.Sc. Public Administration (a) Director Entry: Two A Level passes including Government or History or NCE at lower credit level in any relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes in Government or History, English Language and three other subjects. 8. B.Sc. Sociology (a) Direct Entry: Two A Level passes including Government or History. (b) UME: Five O level Credit passes in Government or History, English Language and three other subjects. At least a pass in Mathematics is required.
FACULTY OF EDUCATION 9. B.A (Ed.) Christian Religious Studies (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes to include Christian Religious Studies or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject or Diploma. (b) UME: Five O Level Credits pass in English Language, CRS and three other relevant subjects or NCE at credit level in any relevant subject.
10. B.A (Ed.) English (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes to include Literature in English and one other Art subject. (b) UME: Five O level credit passes to include Literature in English and English Language. 11. B.A (Ed.) History (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in History and any other related subjects or NCE at lower credit level in any relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O level credit passes to include History and English Language.
12. B.A (Ed. Islamic Studies (a) Direct Entry: Two A Level passes to include Islamic Studies or NCE at credit level in IRS or Diploma in Islamic Studies and combined Diplomas in Hausa, Arabic and Islamic Studies. (b) UME: Five O level Credit passes to include English Language and Islamic Religious Studies. 13. B.Sc. (Ed.) Biology (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Biology and any other relevant subject or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O level credits pass in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and one other subject.
14. B.Sc. (Ed.) Chemistry (a) Direct Entry: Two A Level passes in Chemistry and one other Science subject or NCE at credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O level credits in Mathematics, Chemistry, English Language and two of Physics, Biology and Agric. Science 15. B.Sc. (Ed.) Geography (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Geography and any other relevant subject or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O level credits pass to include Geography, English Language and Mathematics.
16. B.Sc. (Ed.) Mathematics (a) Direct Entry: Two A level in Mathematics, and any other relevant subject or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics plus one other science subject. 17. B.Sc. (Ed.) Physics (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Physics and any one of either Mathematics and Chemistry or NCE at lower credit in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes to include English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
FACULTY OF SCIENCE 18. B.Sc. Biology (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Chemistry and any one from Biology, Zoology or Botany or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O level Credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and at least a pass in physics. 19. B.Sc. Botany (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Chemistry and any one of Biology, Zoology or Botany or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O level Credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and at least a pass in Physics
20. B.Sc. Chemistry (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Chemistry and any one of either Mathematics or Physics or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. 21. B.Sc. Computer Science (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Science Subjects including Mathematics or NCE at lower credit level in Mathematics and one other Science or Social Science subject. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, plus two other science subjects. 22. B.SC Geography (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Geography and any one of Economics, Government, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and any two of Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
23. B.Sc. Geology (a) Direct Entry: Two A Level passes from Geology, Chemistry Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Geography. (b) UME Five O Level Credit passes in English Language, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics. 24. B.Sc. Mathematics (a) Direct Entry: Two A Level passes in Mathematics and any other Science subject or NCE at lower credit in Mathematics and one of Physics or Chemistry. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and at least two subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography. 25. B.Sc. Physics (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Physics and any one of either Mathematics or Chemistry or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O Level Credit passes to include English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 26. B.Sc. Statistics (a) Direct Entry Two A level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics and any other Science Subject or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject.
(b) UME: Five O level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and at least two subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.
27. B.Sc. Zoology (a) Direct Entry: Two A level passes in Chemistry and any one from Biology, Zoology or Botany or NCE at lower credit level in relevant subject. (b) UME: Five O level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and at least a pass in Physics.
